Wildlife & Conservation Partners We Support

We donate a portion of each sale to the following conservation organizations: the Wild Foundation and the Inland Ocean Coalition - Colorado Chapter.

About WILD Foundation:

"WILD envisions a bold future for wilderness conservation, one that is about unity, not isolation, and integrity, not exclusion. We are creating a world in which nature is safe because governments and grassroots organizations coordinate around large-scale solutions, unified in respect for each other and nature, to keep Earth wild."

Wild Wax supports The WILD Foundation, a conservation organization with more than 50 years of experience protecting wilderness, wildlife, and the communities that steward them.

What The WILD Foundation Does:

World Wilderness Congress (WWC)
The WILD Foundation convenes the World Wilderness Congress, one of the longest-running international forums dedicated to wilderness conservation. The Congress brings together scientists, Indigenous leaders, policymakers, conservation organizations, and community representatives to develop strategies for protecting wild places around the world.

Protected Landscapes & Habitat Connectivity
WILD works with conservation partners, governments, and local communities to strengthen protections for wilderness areas, conservation corridors, and ecologically important landscapes. These efforts help maintain connected habitats that wildlife need to survive and thrive.

Community & Indigenous-Led Conservation
Many WILD initiatives support Indigenous Peoples and local communities whose stewardship plays a critical role in protecting biodiversity. Their approach recognizes that lasting conservation success depends on empowering those most closely connected to the land.

Ecosystem Conservation
Rather than focusing on a single species, WILD works to conserve entire ecosystems. Protecting large, intact landscapes benefits a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, big cats, and countless other species that depend on healthy, connected habitats.

Through these efforts, The WILD Foundation advances long-term conservation solutions that protect wilderness, support biodiversity, and strengthen the communities working to keep wild places intact for future generations.

About Inland Ocean Coalition:

"The Colorado Ocean Coalition is the founding chapter of the Inland Ocean Coalition, which now has 15 chapters across North America. Our vision is for citizens and communities to take an active role in improving the impacts and relationships between the the inland, the coastal, and the ocean. The Coalition’s unifying charge is to develop a two-way relationship with the ocean and water, since those who live among mountains, rivers, and inland cities have a direct impact on the cycles of life in the ocean. As the nation’s first Inland Ocean Movement, our goal is to be a wellspring for literacy and community engagement across North America."

The Colorado Ocean Coalition is a program of The Ocean Foundation, Washington, DC

How the Inland Ocean Coalition Colorado Chapter Supports Ocean Health

The Inland Ocean Coalition’s Colorado Chapter is part of a broader movement showing that ocean health begins far from the coast. As water flows through Colorado’s rivers and watersheds, it eventually connects to downstream ecosystems, including the Gulf of Mexico. This means actions taken in inland communities can influence ocean health.

The Colorado Chapter focuses on protecting waterways at the source while engaging communities in education, stewardship, and hands-on conservation.

Waterway Cleanup & Pollution Prevention

The Colorado Chapter participates in and helps mobilize community cleanups across rivers, streams, lakes, and reservoirs in Colorado. These efforts remove plastic waste and debris before it can travel downstream into larger watershed systems.

By addressing pollution early in the water system, these actions help reduce the volume of waste that ultimately reaches marine environments.

Plastic Pollution Reduction

Single-use plastics are a major contributor to waterway and ocean pollution. The Inland Ocean Coalition works with communities, volunteers, and partners to raise awareness about plastic use and encourage reduction strategies that prevent waste from entering waterways.

Watershed Stewardship

Colorado’s rivers and streams are part of interconnected watershed systems that link inland ecosystems to coastal waters. The organization promotes responsible water stewardship that supports healthy freshwater ecosystems and helps protect downstream environments.

Education & Community Engagement

Through educational programs, public events, and outreach, the Colorado Chapter helps communities understand the connection between inland daily life and ocean health. These programs build awareness of how local actions influence broader watershed and marine systems.

Citizen Science & Conservation Action

The Inland Ocean Coalition supports community-based science and engagement opportunities that include:

  • TrashBlitz community science program for plastic pollution tracking
  • Microplastics research collaborations with academic partners, including the University of Colorado Boulder
  • Volunteer participation in cleanups and data collection efforts

These initiatives help generate data while building hands-on environmental stewardship.

Inland Ocean Ambassadors Program

The organization offers training through the Inland Ocean Ambassadors Certification Program, designed to equip volunteers with tools to lead education, outreach, and advocacy efforts in their own communities.

Why It Matters

The Inland Ocean Coalition demonstrates that ocean conservation is not limited to coastal regions. By engaging inland communities in watershed protection, plastic reduction, education, and citizen science, the Colorado Chapter helps address environmental challenges at their source, supporting healthier rivers, ecosystems, and oceans downstream.
